A wireless network is a Local Area Network (LAN) that replaces wires and cables with radio frequency (RF) connections. Wireless networks give you the freedom to access the Internet, email, instant messaging services and your company's network anywhere within the signal coverage area.

16. Can I access my corporate LAN?
Yes. If your company allows Internet remote access into the corporate network, then you may connect. If your company has a VPN (virtual private network), you should be able to run your VPN or secure tunneling client software over the everwave Routing Access Point connection.
17. What kind of security is available through my wireless connection?
We do not enable WEP (Wired Equivalency Protection) on any of the wireless equipment used in our network. Therefore, no special keys are required to use the service. WEP encryption is not yet practical for a public access network, due in part to the absence of a standardized method for relaying encryption keys between different manufacturers' equipment. Although wireless network security is not provided, our system does support secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) access. If your company has a VPN, we recommend that you connect via the VPN for optimum security. We also encourage our subscribers to observe standard security practices in relation to passwords and credit cards.
18. How do I receive and send emails?
Once logged onto the everwave network you have full access to the Internet and may send and receive emails as you would at home or in your office. However, some ISPs, such as Earthlink, do not allow subscribers to send emails from the Earthlink mail servers when connected to a non-Earthlink network (such as everwave). These ISPs normally provide a WebMail alternative to allow you to send emails from non-Earthlink networks. Please check with your ISP as to what their policy is and what alternatives they have in place for you. When sending email through a Wi-Fi connection, please keep in mind that emails are normally sent in "clear text" format. This means that your data is not encrypted when you send it. It is possible to configure your email software to send and receive email in SSL secured format. Check with your ISP to see if this option is available to you. Webmail services such as HotMail, Yahoo! Mail and Earthlink WebMail offer "secure" versions of their services. You should always choose the secure version when logging into these services, sending and reading emails.

If you have questions or need help, feel free to contact customer support either by email or using the toll-free number.
38. When I get redirected to the everwave Login page I get security warnings about the certificate. What does this mean? 99% of the time that customers encounter a security certificate warning the problem is related to the fact that the date and time are not set correctly on the customer's computer. Security certificates are issued for specific periods of time and your computer's browser relies on the computer's clock to make sure the certificate is still valid. Check to ensure that the date and time on the computer are correct.
39. Why do I never see the pop-up Logout window?
The pop-up Logout window requires that Java-script be enabled on your browser. Also, if you are using a web browser such as Safari, you may have a pop-up ad blocker turned on. Pop-up ad blockers will also block the everwave Logout window.
40. Why do I keep getting redirected to the everwave Login page, even when I am online at home? There is a bug in Internet Explorer on Apple Mac computers that causes the everwave Login page to be cached as your browser's home page. If your home page is http://www.google.com for example, you may be returned the everwave Login page, even when you type in www.google.com. There is a workaround for this bug: From your browser's Internet setting or preferences, set your browser to "check for newer versions of stored Web pages upon every visit to the page" or "Always". Then, clear your browser's temporary Internet files (also known as the cache). This should clear up the problem. If it does not, quit your browser and then restart the browser. The problem should clear itself.
